Course Conduct

The Department of Industrial Chemistry at El-Amin University offers a comprehensive program designed to bridge the gap between theoretical chemistry and its industrial applications, with a focus on Nigeria’s manufacturing and energy sectors. The curriculum covers essential topics such as chemical engineering, industrial processes, environmental chemistry, and materials science. Students learn how to apply chemical principles to solve real-world problems in areas such as manufacturing, energy production, pharmaceuticals, and environmental management.

Practical training is a core aspect of the program, with students gaining hands-on experience through laboratory work, industrial attachments, and research projects. Collaborations with industries and government agencies provide students with exposure to current challenges and innovations in the Nigerian chemical industry. Our graduates are equipped to contribute to the development of Nigeria’s industrial sector, taking on roles in production management, quality control, research, and environmental protection.

Description of Courses

The Industrial Chemistry programme is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of the chemical processes and transformations involved in industrial applications. Beginning with a strong foundation in essential chemistry principles during the first year, the programme gradually expands into specialized areas of chemical engineering, materials science, and process technologies in subsequent years, preparing students to tackle real-world industrial challenges in their final year.

The Industrial Chemistry programme aims to equip students with the knowledge to analyze, design, and optimize chemical processes used in industrial settings, enabling them to contribute to sectors such as manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, energy, and environmental management. It also fosters innovation by teaching students how to develop new materials, enhance production efficiency, and ensure sustainable practices within industrial environments.

Objectives of the Industrial Chemistry degree programme include providing students with a robust understanding of chemical and industrial processes, nurturing problem-solving abilities relevant to real-world industrial chemistry scenarios, developing practical skills in laboratory and process control environments, cultivating transferable skills applicable to both chemical and non-chemical industries, and preparing students for advanced studies in industrial chemistry or related interdisciplinary fields. The unique elements of the programme include fostering a deep understanding of industrial safety and environmental regulations, promoting research and development skills for process optimization, and preparing graduates for roles in the rapidly evolving industrial sector, where sustainability and innovation are key drivers of growth.

B.A Arabic
Five credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in Arabic, Islamic studies, Hausa, and two other Arts/Social Science subjects.
Two ‘A’ level credit passes in relevant subjects one of which should be Arabic in NCE or ND with at least a merit level.
UTME subjects are: Arabic, Islamic Studies, Hausa, and English subjects.
B.A. Islamic Studies
Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in Arabic, Islamic studies, Hausa, and two other Arts/Social Science subjects.
(a)Two ‘A’ level passes in relevant subjects. One of the advanced level subjects should be Islamic Studies. NCE or ND at merit level.
