Course Conduct

The Department of Microbiology at El-Amin University offers a comprehensive program that explores the study of microorganisms and their impact on health, agriculture, and industry, with a focus on issues relevant to Nigeria. Our curriculum covers essential topics such as microbial genetics, environmental microbiology, immunology, and biotechnology. Through rigorous coursework and laboratory training, students gain a strong theoretical foundation and hands-on skills in microbial analysis and research methods.

Practical experience is an integral part of our program, with students participating in laboratory experiments, fieldwork, and research projects that address local health and environmental challenges. Description of Courses

The programme aims to provide a deep understanding of microbiology concepts in various sectors such as industry, health, food, agriculture, pharmacy, and environment. It also highlights the importance of the relationship between microbiology and biotechnology. The philosophy of the programme is centered around training graduates to apply microbiological techniques to address the societal developmental needs effectively.

The objectives of the programme include comprehensive training for careers in industry, health sector, and research institutes, preparing students for further studies in applied microbiology, and developing their business skills in the field. The unique features of the program cover a broad spectrum of modern aspects in microbiology like food, industrial, medical, environmental, biotechnology, among others.

Graduates with a degree in microbiology have employability opportunities in various sectors such as hospitals, laboratories, pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, education, food processing, and environmental management, requiring technical, analytical, and communication skills. Possessing skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, research, analysis, creativity, adaptability, and initiative are crucial for success in microbiology-related professions and are emphasized in the program.

B.A Arabic
Five credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in Arabic, Islamic studies, Hausa, and two other Arts/Social Science subjects.
Two ‘A’ level credit passes in relevant subjects one of which should be Arabic in NCE or ND with at least a merit level.
UTME subjects are: Arabic, Islamic Studies, Hausa, and English subjects.
B.A. Islamic Studies
Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in Arabic, Islamic studies, Hausa, and two other Arts/Social Science subjects.
(a)Two ‘A’ level passes in relevant subjects. One of the advanced level subjects should be Islamic Studies. NCE or ND at merit level.
